Schwiebert Park, Davenport Library projects earn honors

Two 2010 projects Crawford Co. participated in have received recognition as "Best of 2010" winners by Midwest Construction Magazine. Rock Island's Schwiebert Park won the Best Government/Public Building award, while Davenport's Eastern Avenue Library received an Award of Merit in the Cultural Division.

At Schwiebert Park, Crawford Co. installed 15 column mounted lighting fixtures at the Quad Cities' newest riverfront icon. The fixtures are located throughout the park, which overlooks the Mississippi River. The park is located on the former site of the Rock Island Armory. The column-mounted lights feature a stainless steel frame with acrylite acrylic panels. In addition to the stage area, the lighting is located on piers, the pavilion area, and main entry.

At the Eastern Avenue Library, Crawford Co. installed the HVAC system, which included affiliate UnderDuct's fiberglass underground duct. UnderDuct was installed with an insulated double-wall design that features 824 Low Smoke and Flame Class 1 duct rating, which is approved for direct burial. UnderDuct provides excellent resistance to corrosion and leakage. The duct is being used in conjunction with a geothermal HVAC design.
