Crawford Company Hosts Ribbon Cutting and Open House

ROCK ISLAND, IL - Crawford Company hosted a ribbon cutting and open house for the company's renovated facility at 430 1st Street, Rock Island, IL. The multi-purpose facility is 40,000 sq. ft. and just three blocks from Crawford's main office. 

Mayor Mike Thoms, City of Rock Island, and Crawford Company officials offered comments on the first phase of renovation. Crawford guests celebrated the renovations while learning more about Crawford Company culture and services. 

The total investment for phase one of renovations was $675,000. The City of Rock Island provided assistance and support, contributing approximately 18% of the funding. The project was considered a High Impact GRIT (Growing Rock Island Together) project. Because of the project’s impact a PEP (Property Enhancement Program) grant was awarded along with a tax rebate. American Bank & Trust provided the remainder of the financing.      

The renovated facility is utilized for plumbing prefabrication, inventory/tools and internal company operations. The building provides additional production and inventory space.

Phase one of the renovations included replacement of the flat roof, façade improvements, lighting and interior upgrades. Phase two will likely include office build out, additional roof repairs, and further space utilization.

Since 2018, Crawford has made significant investments in Rock Island and surrounding areas totaling over $7,360,000. Many of the dollars were invested in vacant and functionally obsolete properties. This includes the acquisition of Art-O-Lite Electric and Seaberg Industries as well as renovations and improvements to buildings at 730 31^st Avenue, 111 4^th Avenue and 321 2^nd Street. These investments have stimulated job creation with the addition of 200 employees.
