Crawford Adds New 3500-watt Laser

ROCK ISLAND, IL - Crawford Company is pleased to announce the purchase of a new 3500-watt production laser. The Belgium machine, manufactured by Balliu, will give Crawford's Laser Division more versatility and will allow Crawford to meet customer demands more effectively and efficiently. The machine will be fully operational, on Crawford's floor, by calendar year end 2009.

"Crawford is always looking to upgrade and maintain its' competitive edge," said Jim Maynard, vice president. "We now believe no job is too small or too big for our current line-up."

The linear drive machine featured dual cutting beds: 5' x 10'. The laser's cutting capabilities are: 3/4-inch hot roll, 3/8-inch stainless steel, and 1/4-inch aluminum. The state-of-the-art laser features the latest technology available. The high wattage output, by the Rofin resonator, allows for higher cutting speed and allows for more competitive pricing.

The machine replaces one of Crawford's three existing lasers. The other two resonators were re-built in 2008, making them like new machines. These two resonators were upgraded from 1700-watts to 2000-watts.
