JOB DESCRIPTION 

Summary/Objective 

The mechanical designer will work directly with fabrication estimators, project managers and shop personnel to produce drawings suitable for fabrication. The designer will also be assisting in developing and maintaining company drawing standards and templates.  

Essential Functions

  •  Create detailed fabrication drawings for Fabrication department.
  •  Create 3D concept models to convey design intent to customers.
  •  Work directly with owners to coordinate project requirements.
  •  Make day-to-day design decisions based on industry and Company standards.
  •  Work directly with equipment suppliers to incorporate information into designs.
  •  Support additional departments including Brew, HVAC, Plumbing, Monoxivent and FRP.

Required Experience and Skills 

  • Fabrication-level modeling using Solidworks.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural drawings.
  • Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, Powerpoint.

Additional Preferred Experience and Skills 

  • Sheetmetal modeling experience.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized.
  • HVAC design experience using AutoCAD or Revit MEP.
  • Engineering degree a plus.

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary. 

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

This is a first shift full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be necessary to meet demand. 

Travel 

Occasional travel to jobsites for field measurements and verifications.
